Intramurals

Intramurals are always a fun way to take a break with your friends.  There’s nothing quite as fun as sweat rolling down your cheek with your best friends.  We in LCM are very athletic and participate in a variety intramural sports.  In the fall, we had an ultimate Frisbee team and a flag football team.

In our inaugural football season, the “LCM Stealth Bombers”, playing in the shadow of Death Valley, went 0-4.  While our record wasn’t the greatest we certainly had lots of fun the in process.  Our favorite play was the so-called “Boyd-Nuke-switcherooni-fake-run-pass.”  Many of you may remember a similar play during a two-point conversion in the second half of the CU-GA Tech game.  It always provided lots of yards and dumbfounded the opposing team.  As for Ultimate, we represented very well with an even record of 2-2.

In the spring we participated in basketball and softball.  I captained the co-rec basketball team and when trying to come up with a creative name, I heard the Trace Adkins song, “Honky-Tonk ba Donk-a-Donk.”  So with a little thinking I named our team the “Ba Dunk a Dunks.”  Creative, right?  The name always got a good response from the officials and other players.  Needless to say, we slammed many a dunk over the course of the season.

Unfortunately for our softball team, Mother Nature always had the final say in our games.  Many were cold and the closer, against archrival “Romping Rhinos,” was rained out twice.  However, even through cold and rain, LCM’ers persevere and always make a positive outcome out of most any situation.
