This year’s annual tubing trip was on August 29th. We piled into two church vans and drove up to Helen, GA to ride down the Chattahoochee River for the day. After the drive we were all itching to jump right in. It was a rather cool day, with the temperature much lower than an average August day and with overcast and a light breeze, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. Riding down the river on our tubes we took selfies, enjoyed short naps and helped nudge each other off the large rocks that got in the way. Halfway through some of us stopped to enjoy the water slides. It was fun racing each other to the bottom.
After we were done tubing we set out to enjoy the cute mock German town. Enjoying a variety of German-type restaurants, some of us even got to watch others tubing down the river. After eating there was a little bit of time left to explore some of the shops and buy some chocolate. The tubing trip is one of the best ways to start off the school year! It really allows one to remember that making time to spend with great friends can help relieve many stresses. -Lindsey Noll The beginning of the school year is always hectic whirlwind of seeing old friends, trying to finalize schedules, and getting back into the routine of classes. Each year this whirlwind is accompanied by a wonderful event, the Welcome Back Lunch. This event provides LCM students with the opportunity to take a break from all the commotion and sit down and reconnect with old friends and church members. The directing committee always does a wonderful job preparing this event. We were welcomed with aromas of wonderful fresh food as we left church. This event provides an opportunity to welcome in the new students and allows a good opportunity for student leaders to introduce themselves to the first year students.
Caitlin Newton On Saturday August 22 just before the semester started up, we had one of my favorite things we do at LCM, the Lake Outing. I like the Lake Outing because it’s a time where returning students can catch up with each and new student coming to Clemson. We spent the afternoon swimming, tubing on the lake, and relaxation before the beginning of the busy school year. Then later we ate grilled hotdogs, chicken salad, fruit, chips, and some awesome chocolate chip cookies. All and all it was a pretty solid day of fellowship and fun. Adam Nichols |
