On Friday, January 3rd 2014, the LCM group went on a great trip to see the Tigers play in the one and only Orange Bowl. It was an awesome opportunity to hop into the church van with 10 of my great friends and take a two day journey to Miami. Without the LCM group going I would not have had the opportunity to go see my first ever bowl game, and not to mention be one of the few Clemson eye witnesses that were at the game (come on, people! Go to the bowl games!). Being able to be there and support the team was a memory I will not soon forget. Tyler Bruce On January 24th, after a bit of a delay, we packed up two vans and hit the road for Boone, NC! In Boone, Appalachian State’s LSM was waiting to greet us, share dinner with us a delicious BBQ joint, and show us to their house where we would be spending the weekend! Snow was already on the ground as we unpacked and moved into our temporary home. The old house downtown covered in snow looked like it had come straight from a postcard! Everyone was excited for the next day so after some games and fellowship, we all called it a night. The next morning we woke up early, put on more layers than I have worn in a long time, and loaded the vans for our day on the slopes! After checking in and getting our passes we all rushed outside to see the slopes for ourselves. Everyone went in different directions. Some of us went to the bunny slopes to see how we could handle skis (personally I’m much more accustomed to a boogie board) and other people started on the more difficult slopes. By the end of the day everyone had gotten off of the bunny slopes and seemed to be getting used to all the snow. Luckily we also had a table inside for lunch and card games whenever we needed a break from the cold air and snow! It started snowing while we were skiing and it looked absolutely beautiful. After a long day of skiing we made our way back to the house where we got to share hot pizza and funny stories from the day. We had a laid back night since we were so tired from all the skiing and snowboarding. The next morning we woke up early, cleaned, closed the weekend with worship, and hit the road. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and, personally, I can’t wait to go skiing again next year! Laurel Burst |
