Hi colleagues and friends,
Four (4) RON Talks have been posted so far on YouTube on the topic – “Reformation 2017: Re-fermenting the Church.” I hope you are finding my opinions interesting and useful.
The next 8 Talks will be posted one each on the next 8 Saturdays of 2017 (October 31, 1517 was a Saturday). Each Talk is 10-15 minutes. Go to www.youtube.com. Type in “RON Talk 1A” … “RON Talk 1B” … etc.
Part One: What happened in 1517?
RON Talk 1A – Medieval Catholic theology
RON Talk 1B – Luther/Reformers medieval response
RON Talk 1C – Lutheran nuances
Part Two: What has happened since?
RON Talk 2A – Social, Political, Economic Transformations
RON Talk 2B – Technology and Scientism (will be posted 2/4)
RON Talk 2C – Biblical Scholarship (will be posted 2/11)
Part Three: A New Brew Forward?
3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E, 3F
I count myself among those who think it is time for a new Reformation in the Christian Church, including ELCA Lutheranism … and not just in our practices. Some foundations of Christian theology need rethinking too. Part Three will contain my radical (“radical” means getting to the root, as in radish) proposals, especially in light of new understandings in the Natural Sciences. As always, I welcome your thoughts, corrections, and insights.
Feel free to share with friends, on Facebook, etc.
God’s peace and joy,
Ron Rude, Lutheran campus pastor
