We traveled to the towns where Martin Luther was born and baptized, nailed his 95 theses, translated the New Testament into German and died. The reformation was truly incredible. The thing I took the most from it was that Martin Luther was the mastermind and instigator, but he could not have accomplished all that he did without technology, helpful friends and the right environment. I realized it takes the whole body of Christ to accomplish great things. We also visited the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, the Berlin Wall and other such memorials. While not related to Martin Luther, I know we all got a lot out of seeing those things and wonderful conversations were sparked.
This trip was the first time some of us left the country, or flew, or went to Europe. Lots of firsts! All the experiences were really more influential (and fun!) because we were together. By experiencing Germany together the group became tighter, we learned things about each other and ourselves and has a blast! It truly was a once in a lifetime experience!
