At our first LCM Wednesday night dinner of the semester we shared the Opening Eucharist. Plenty of new students who received cookies from Cookie Drop telling them about LCM or talked to LCM members at the Organizations Fair attended the first Wednesday night dinner. It was wonderful to have all the returning students get back together and also to meet new students, welcoming them to Clemson University and UniLu. But this first gathering of the semester was not primarily a social event. The program after dinner was our Opening Eucharist, our first worship service together of the new semester. New and returning students alike participated in the small worship service led by Pastor Chris and took Communion. It is so important to remember that our UniLu community is not only a social circle that we can enjoy getting away from school work with, but it is a faith community – a church family away from our home churches. Beginning the semester LCM activities with sharing the Word of God and taking holy sacrament brings us together not only as Clemson students but as Christians - Lutherans and all other denominations alike. Being a part of Lutheran Campus Ministry the past two years has helped me grow in my faith and my relationship with God. That is due in large part to having wonderful people like Pastor Chris, Pastor Danielle and Pastor Larry, all my fellow students, and the UniLu congregation members nurture my faith and help me explore the questions I have about my faith. I’m thankful for the times we can worship together at UniLu and LCM, and the Opening Eucharist is the start to a new year of these experiences. Emily Todd Comments are closed.
