The Fall Retreat was a fun weekend full of movies, music, and fellowship. There was some thought provoking discussion about our theme “God in the Movies”. We discussed “The Mission”, PC’s personal favorite, and “The Invention of Lying”, a more lighthearted film that had some deep underlying themes. Discussing the movies really challenged us to see our faith and church community from different perspectives. Thanks to PC, I’m sure I can find God in pretty much any movie I watch. We had the run of Camp Chatuga, and we sure did take advantage of it. There was everything from tree climbing to a spades tournament. Thanks to some last minute cable hook-ups in the dining hall by our host Rick we were able to cheer our Tigers onto a win against Boston College! On Saturday night we had a bonfire. I can’t think of a better way to spend a night than eating too many s’mores, listening to our personal string band, and laughing at silly ghost stories around the campfire. A lakeside worship service was the fitting finale. I’m sure the bugs enjoyed it almost as much as we did! I truly enjoyed spending time with my friends, new and old, on the retreat. This trip made me so very excited for the rest of the year in LCM! Callie Heyne Comments are closed.
